Best Cash Bank Switching Bonuses in the UK Now
Cash switching bonuses are real, but the amount shown in the advert is only one part of the deal. The practical comparison is how much cash you receive, what you must do to qualify and how long the provider can take to pay.
The current cash bonuses and their headline amounts
Santander's current standard switching incentive is £240 on its Everyday Current Account, available for qualifying switch requests made by 7 October 2026 unless withdrawn earlier. first direct currently advertises £210 for eligible new customers, made up of a £175 core incentive plus a temporary £35 boost for accounts opened between 14 September and 2 December 2026.
Lloyds and NatWest each currently advertise £200 on qualifying standard current-account switches. Lloyds' public offer runs to 9 December 2026 and applies to selected new Club Lloyds and Premier accounts. NatWest's £200 standard offer is available on eligible Select and Reward accounts and can be withdrawn or changed.
Nationwide currently advertises £175 for switching to a qualifying FlexDirect, FlexAccount or FlexPlus account, including switches to some existing eligible accounts. These headline values should be date-stamped in any comparison because switching campaigns can close with little notice and new campaigns can launch with different conditions.
How much work each bonus requires
Santander's £240 requires a full CASS switch, at least £1,500 paid into the Everyday Current Account, two qualifying household Direct Debits and at least £200 funded into a Santander Regular Saver in your name. Both the current account and Regular Saver need to remain open, and the two Direct Debits still need to be active when Santander makes the payment.
first direct's £210 asks for a full switch containing at least two Direct Debits or standing orders, a £1,000 deposit, at least five debit-card payments and a digital-banking login within 45 days of account opening. The requirement is more activity-heavy than simply moving an account and waiting.
Lloyds requires three active Direct Debits to move from the donor account. NatWest needs £1,250 paid in and left for 24 hours plus an app login, but no Direct Debit condition appears in the published standard-offer steps. Nationwide needs two Direct Debits moved, a £1,000 pay-in and one debit-card payment. The easiest cash bonus therefore depends on the structure of the account you are switching.
Payment times are different even when the cash amount is similar
Lloyds says its £200 is paid within 14 working days of the switch starting if the qualifying conditions are met. That is relatively quick because many providers wait until after the switch and activity conditions have been checked.
NatWest gives you 60 days from the switch to pay in £1,250 and log into the app, then says the £200 will be paid within 30 days once the conditions have been met. Santander checks eligibility 60 days after the initial switch request and then pays within the next 30 days, so its public guidance says the £240 may arrive around 90 days after the original request.
Nationwide and first direct have their own payment timing in the detailed offer terms, so record the expected payment date when applying. If the cash has not arrived after the published window, contact the provider with your switch date and evidence of the completed conditions rather than assuming the bonus has been rejected.
Worked value comparison after account fees
A cash bonus should be reduced by any cost you must pay to keep the qualifying account. NatWest Select has no monthly account fee, while its Reward account charges £2 a month and has separate reward conditions. Lloyds' Club Lloyds can charge a monthly fee if its monthly funding condition is not met, while packaged variants can cost more.
Suppose two offers both pay £200. One uses a free account and the other causes you to pay £5 a month for six months before you change account or meet the fee-waiver rule. The second deal has effectively delivered £170 after those six monthly fees. Account rewards can offset fees, but they should be included only if you will genuinely earn and use them.
The same principle applies to Santander's requirement to fund a Regular Saver. The £200 is still your money, not a fee, but it is temporarily allocated to another account. If that funding requirement creates inconvenience or you cannot spare the cash, a smaller switching bonus with simpler conditions can be more practical.
How to protect the bonus from avoidable mistakes
Use a checklist before you apply. Record the offer deadline, eligible receiving account, donor-account requirements, minimum Direct Debits, required pay-in, card-spend tasks, app-login requirement and expected payment window. Tick each item only after you have evidence it is complete.
Do not assume a standing order counts as a Direct Debit. first direct explicitly accepts Direct Debits or standing orders for its current switch requirement, but Lloyds specifically requires Direct Debits. Do not assume a Direct Debit created after starting the switch will count when a bank says it must move from the old account.
Save the terms as a PDF or screenshot on the application date. Bank campaigns are updated frequently, and the public landing page can later show a different offer. Your saved terms establish the rules you relied on. If the bank refuses payment and you believe you met the terms, make a formal complaint and provide the evidence rather than repeatedly reapplying.
BankOfferScout editorial view
For Best Cash Bank Switching Bonuses, BankOfferScout treats the complete qualification checklist and destination-account fit as the anchor. We compare the outcome around eligibility, deadlines, switching mechanics and the ongoing value of the destination account, because the largest headline figure is not automatically the feature that matters most in everyday use.
The editorial test for Best Cash Bank Switching Bonuses is whether the choice still works under normal behaviour. We stress-test the comparison for missing a qualifying action or moving to a poor-fit destination account. If two options are close, simpler conditions and a better fit for normal behaviour can be more valuable than a marginal numerical edge that is easy to lose.
Before acting on Best Cash Bank Switching Bonuses, verify cash incentives, eligibility exclusions, pay-in rules, Direct Debit requirements, deadlines and account features using the provider switching page, incentive terms and destination-account tariff. If the answer depends on a rule outside the provider, confirm it through the Current Account Switch Service or another authoritative process source. BankOfferScout supplies the decision framework rather than freezing live product data in time.

Offer amounts and conditions on this page were checked on 30 September 2026. Switching incentives can change or be withdrawn, so the provider terms in force when you apply should control over an older comparison page. Future reviews should verify not only the advertised cash amount but also when the bank checks eligibility and the latest date by which payment should arrive. A cash-bonus page becomes misleading if it updates the headline £ amount without updating Direct Debit rules, card-use tasks or payment timing. Save the provider's live terms for each campaign and record the date checked. If a provider uses a temporary top-up, as first direct currently does with its extra £35, list the opening-date window separately from the base incentive so the article can be corrected cleanly when the temporary element expires.
